Dressing Up & Ed Sheeran in Amsterdam

I didn’t even have two full days at home until I left for Amsterdam again. Enough time to unpack my back, get the job that  I wanted so badly and get my roots done. The reason why I just had this short “layover” was the Ed Sheeran concert in Amsterdam. When he announced his tour dates about two months ago, I was super bummed that he would perform in Hamburg shortly before my return. There is just a couple of artists that I would travel out of the country for and he is certainly one of them. So I decided to get tickets for his concert in Amsterdam instead. I took a good friend with me and we decided to stay a couple of days to do some sightseeing and exploring the beautiful city. We also managed to squeeze in some time for an outfit post. Surprisingly, it didn’t take me long to get back in the swing of things and I had a lot of fun posing and making a fool out of myself in front of the camera. By the way, I bought the dress from H&M in South Africa and it has been traveling with me since then. The coat is another current obsession and I have to admit I ordered it when I was still away. It was on sale and I just really wanted it. Anyway, I don’t really have any occasion to where this look to (yet), but I might ask my mother to crop the dress a little so can wear it on a night out or something.

But now to the actual reason for this trip. Ed Sheeran’s concert was simply amazing. It was just him and his (several) guitars on stage. Similiar to Adele, with talent like this you don’t need a big show. His songs are enough to touch people, make them dance, sing, think or cry. When I talk to people about music I like to ask them what it is that makes them like an artist or a certain piece. For me, it is definitely the lyrics. Of course, I wouldn’t like a song with the best and deepest lyrics and a terrible tune. However, lyrics are what makes me fall in love with a song and replay it over and over again. With Ed Sheeran there is almost no song – how many times can I say ‘song’ in a paragraph –  without this one line that gives me goosebumps. For me, that’s pure artistry. Not only musical talent, but poetry at the same time. I tried to film the concert as less as possible to be able to take in the moment. But I got a couple of snippets that I combined together to show you since I have been rambling on about how great he is.

This trip to Amsterdam finally concludes my traveling for 2017. I have been away for almost 3 months now and it’s time to get back to business. From now on I will be sorting my life out. That means working, hopefully finding a small apartment and  mentally preparing myself for university in October. I am also excited to catch up with my friends and enjoy the summer with them in my hometown. I loved traveling alone, but the upcoming chapter is almost equally exciting in its own way. Of course, I am going to continue posting my outfits and things like that. Realistically, I can’t really see myself stopping my shopping behavior so I might as well just embrace it. So see you in the next one, XX
